Development
If you ask today's women leaders where they got their drive, their spirit, and leadership skills, more than half will tell of their powerful experience in Girl Scouts. That's where these successful women learned to stand strong, with courage and confidence. Since our founding in 1912, Girl Scouts has been helping girls—about 50 million American girls—grow to become their very best.

Today, our inclusive membership is almost four million strong, and that makes Girl Scouts the largest girl-serving organization in the world. We have a deep knowledge about girls' growth and development, and we speak with a national voice on girls' issues. We are deeply rooted in the same great principles on which Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts.

To continue the tradition of serving Every Girl, Everywhere, we rely on individual gifts, Family Partnership donations from our members, corporate donations and sponsorship, as well as foundation and government grants to help us support our mission of…preparing girls and young women in Western New York to meet the emerging challenges of society and providing leadership in resolving issues that may be prevalent in their environment…
