Troop Fundraising

Below is a list of Council Approved Troop Fundraising Activities. All Troop/Service Unit fundraising events require submitting a Troop Money-Earning Application 30 days prior to the event and a Money Earning Project Evaluation upon the competion of the event.

Lifetouch Photography
Invite Lifetouch Photography to your next mother-daughter or father-daughter event to capture these important moments on film. A percentage of the sale of each photo will be returned to the Troop/Service Unit. Call Tanya at 633-4466 for complete details and to reserve your date. Inform Tanya that you are a member of the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo & Erie County. Service Unit/Troop will receive 10% of all sales over $500.

Java Joe’s Roasting Company, Inc.
Java Joe’s Roasting Company, located in Binghamton, NY, will provide 8 oz.- variety packages of blended coffees to Troops at a discounted $4 per bag. Suggested retail price is $6.50. Java Joe’s provides custom labels bearing our Council name. Their name will not appear on the package. A minimum purchase of 24 packages is required to receive FREE shipping. Applebee’s
Flapjack Fundraisers have broad appeal. Your Troop/Service Unit sells tickets to family members and friends, and also provides volunteer servers and greeters. You are charged $1/guest, with a recommended ticket price of $5. NOTE: This fundraiser is only available Saturdays during non-business hours, from 8 - 10 a.m. Call Emily Koenigsberg at 634-7700, ext. 109 to check availability and set your date. Applebee’s also has a “Dining to Donate” Program, which donates 10% off an evening's sales to the sponsoring group when diners present a flyer with their meal.

Recycling
A great way to raise money and help the environment!

  • EcoPhones – log on to http://www.recycling-fundraiser.com/ or call (888)326-7466 for details.
  • EB Games – EB Games gives CASH for old cell phones, used CD’s, DVD’s and video games! EB Games has seven locations in Erie County, so you won’t have to drive far to drop off your Troop’s goods. Call Mike Worster at 683-6285 to locate the nearest EBs and arrange a drop-off time.

Bottle and Can Drives
This can be a one-time event, or an on-going activity to raise both funds and recycling awareness.

Car Washes
At a school, after church, at a gas station, car dealership or car club.

Craft Shows
Troops exhibit hand-made crafts as a group. Several Troops can organize a show with each one creating a specific craft. The show could highlight a season, a holiday or a theme. A school-based Troop could partner with the PTA, etc.

Spaghetti dinners, hot dog lunches, baked goods sales,
ice cream socials

Troops can ask area merchants to donate supplies for these events (e.g., pop, rolls). However, no brand logos can be displayed on items. For example, pop can be poured into an unmarked cup or the label on container must be covered. Additionally, a Health Permit must be secured for any event at which food is cooked, even if the facility has a permit. NOTE: No major corporation can be solicited without obtaining clearance from the Development Office at the Service Center.

Collecting cash register receipts or coupons
Some supermarkets will exchange money or goods for your receipts or cents-off manufacturers’ coupons. This is a good way to involve families and neighbors in your fundraising. Although Tops Supermarkets no longer supports this activity, other grocery chains, such as Dash Markets, do.

Bagging Groceries or Gift Wrapping
Arrange with a local supermarket to have a Troop(s) bag groceries on a specific day. With the supermarket’s permission, set up donation jars at the registers so shoppers can contribute. Many local stores; e.g., Gander Mountain and Barnes & Nobles, will allow Troops to set up gift-wrap stations on holidays, especially during the Christmas season.

Garage Sales
Get usable, saleable contributions from families, friends and neighbors and have a neighborhood garage sale. Combine the cast-offs of numerous households to increase the selection and appeal for sidewalk shoppers. Earn additional money by making baked goods and beverages available for your patrons.

Uno Chicago Grill
Pick a night, invite a few friends and family for a great meal and receive a portion of the dinner sales as profit.
Click here to download an Uno fundraising request form. Complete the form, attach it to a Money Earning Application and mail it, along with an enveloped addressed to the local Uno where you would like to hold your fundraiser. After approval, Fund Development will mail your form in the preaddressed envelope that you provided.

Pizza Hut
Contact your local Pizza Hut and ask about their “Friends & Family” nights.

Rosina
Cash & Carry-Out Fund Raiser Dinner Packages. Rosina will provide the food for your next spaghetti dinner and you supply the cooks and the servers. The Spaghetti Dinner Package is only $1.95/person. The Pasta Dinner Package is only $2.05/person. Call Jim Matyjasik at 818-5386 for details and to make arrangements. Submit a Money Earning Application, once you have secured your date.
