Position Descriptions
Adult Planning Committee Member – Plans annual volunteer appreciation weekend event for adult members; picks theme and workshops; coordinates with Adult Recognition Committee to plan council awards dinner.
Adult Recognition Committee Member – Promotes and coordinates the annual council adult awards process; reviews and approves nominations for council awards; plans annual council awards dinner.
Assistant Leader/Advisor – Attends regular troop meetings; helps the girls and the leader/advisor plan and participate in activities and trips; supports meeting all program and safety guidelines.
Camp Qualified Adult – Accompanies troop on cookouts and overnight camping trips; teaches the girls the skills to have fun, cook, and sleep in the outdoors.
Development Department Volunteer – Assist with the planning and preparation of special event activities; manage and input data; prepare mailings and other clerical duties as needed; assist with event set-up. (Computer competence with Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Power Point & Outlook is a plus.)
Family Partnership Volunteer – Speaks to groups about the Family Partnership program.
First Aider – Accompanies troop on activities, events and trips; provides emergency first aid if needed.
Public Relations Representative – Gathers “news” from troops and service units and distributes to local media outlets; identifies and uses local opportunities to promote Girl Scouting; reports events to the council Communications & Marketing Department; sets up promotional displays; takes photographs of service unit or troop events.
Program Consultant – Shares expertise or develops an expertise in areas like art, sports, photography, science, finance, or healthy living; creates and/or delivers a program once or many times to girls in small or large groups.
Registrar – Provides services which make the registration process easier for all Girl Scouts; assures greater accuracy in completion of membership registration forms; manages the girl, adult, and troop annual registration process for a service unit.
Secretary/Treasurer – Keeps an accurate record of all service team and service unit meetings; keeps an accurate account of all service unit financial dealings to assist the Service Unit Manager.
Service Unit Cookie Manager – Coordinates the sale of Girl Scout cookies by all the troops in a service unit; attends a cookie training course and presents cookie training for troop leaders; places service unit cookie orders; organizes troop cookie pick-ups for the service unit; organizes incentives, collects deposit slips, and finalizes all paperwork.
Service Unit Manager – Helps organize and support troop leaders in a specific area through meetings and mentoring; oversees paperwork; liaison for troop leaders with other parts of the council.
Service Unit QSP/Be-A-Reader Program Manager – Coordinates troops' participation in a candy/nuts and magazine subscription council fundraiser for a service unit.
Trainer – Presents training classes to adult volunteers using established course designs in basic leadership; designs and delivers classes in an area of interest or expertise.
Troop Cookie Manager – Coordinates the sale of Girl Scout cookies by a troop including selling, ordering, storage, delivery and payment.
Troop Leader/Advisor – Schedules regular troop meetings; helps the girls to plan and participate in activities and trips; meets all program and safety guidelines; serves as the communication link for the troop with parents, the service unit, and the council.
Troop Treasurer – Oversees the troop checking account; provides routine updates to girls, parents, and leaders about the income and expenses; completes written quarterly report.
Troop Organizer – Manages the recruitment of girls and volunteers for a targeted area; identifies troop leadership and assigns girls to troops.
Troop Consultant – Assists leaders in working with their troops; ensures leaders receive appropriate training; identifies and analyzes troop problems and reports concerns to Service Unit Manager.
Troop QSP/Be-A-Reader Program Manager – Distributes materials and collects orders from the girls for candy/nuts and magazine subscription fundraiser for the troop.
